Those that were not aware, former Milton Keynes Lightning and Coventry Blaze player Adam Calder has been battling cancer for over two years now.

Despite several surgeries and therapy to fight this disease, Adam’s health is still greatly affected and he is now seeking new treatments and medications that are not available under the NHS.

Earlier in the month Genting Casino Coventry Blaze launched the ‘Support 25’ campaign in which they are asking the British ice hockey community to come together and help Adam get the treatment he now seeks.

Milton Keynes Bolts felt the need to support Adam Calder, a well respected member of the hockey community who entertained crowds of our own Milton Keynes Lightning, and gave so much both on and off the ice.

With Bolts facing Coventry Cobras recently, we felt that this game was more than fitting for fundraising as both teams playing out of cities in which Adam spent so much of his successful career at, all be it a midnight face off.

We would like to send our thanks to the players, the officials and Planet Ice for their help in raising just over £400.00 to be donated to Calders’ #Support25 campaign.

Milton Keynes Bolts were eventual winners of the game ten goals to six, opening the season with the Bolts first win.
